The Nupes are in Dallas! The brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. pulled up strong for the 90th Southwestern Province Council, turning the city into a weekend-long celebration of brotherhood and legacy spanning March 26th through the 29th. Hosted by the Dallas Alumni chapter, the energy was high as members from across the province gathered to reconnect, represent, and reflect on the impact of the fraternity.The theme of the 90th meeting Anniversary was “Being Mighty: Reflect. Refocus. Rise.”

From lively moments filled with laughter to meaningful recognition through awards, the weekend captured the essence of what it means to be a Nupe: unity, pride, and purpose. Rather it was through the variety of available programming and events this past weekend or simply enjoying each other’s presence—-the council served as a reminder that the bond of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. continues to thrive across generations. The heavily attended event created buzz leading to viral moments shared across popular culture news outlets like Watch The Yard and Cachet Digital.

Comedian, actor, radio personality and entrepreneur Thomas Miles aka Nephew Tommy reflects on receiving the SWP Province High Achievement Award:


It was an honor to be recognized by my amazing fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.—for my accomplishments throughout the years.
And to be in the line up with these incredible brothers—is an accomplishment within itself.

To receive his award Miles paired a tailored black suit with a crisp white shirt and polished red polka dotted details seen in his choice of pocket square handkerchief and matching tie. The energy was electric as each awardee was recognized on stage at a special recognition ceremony.

Miles is part of a talented group of his fellow fraternity members who were also awarded for their achievement and impact in different fields.

Bernard Harris – Astronaut

Dr. Bernard A. Harris, Jr., a 1975 initiate of the Eta Lambda Chapter at the University of Houston-Central.

Dr. Harris is CEO and Managing Partner of Vesalius Ventures, investing in early to mid-stage healthcare technologies. He formerly led the National Math & Science Initiative and founded the Harris Institute & Foundation, advancing STEM education for over 25 years. A veteran astronaut with over 438 hours in space, he spent a decade at NASA researching space medicine and developing astronaut health devices.

He holds a B.S. in Biology and an MBA from the University of Houston, a Master of Medical Science from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and an M.D. from Texas Tech University School of Medicine. His medical training includes a residency at the Mayo Clinic, a NASA endocrinology fellowship, and flight surgeon certification.

Charles McClelland – NCAA Executive

Brother Dr. Charles McClelland, SWAC Commissioner and distinguished member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., initiated Spring 1994 in Mighty Southwestern Province through the Prairie View Alumni Chapter as part of K.S. Fab Five.

David Godsey – Attorney

Attorney David Godsey is the founder of The Godsey Law Firm, P.C.

David’s prior experience in the auto insurance industry gives him an edge over many other personal injury lawyers. After working in corporate America for one of the Nation’s largest auto insurance carriers, David became displeased with how individuals were being treated by large insurance companies.  Using that as motivation, he went to law school with the vision of starting a plaintiff’s personal injury law firm. His experience as an insurance adjuster and his firmly held personal belief in giving back to the community have given him a unique perspective and insight into how to best fight on his clients’ behalf.

DeMarco Morgan – National News Anchor

DeMarco Morgan, a Spring 2000 initiate of the Delta Delta Chapter at Jackson State University. Brother Morgan began his broadcasting career while earning his master’s degree at Columbia University, covering the September 11 attacks. He later taught journalism and English at several universities. He went on to hold reporting and anchoring roles at CBS, ABC, and NBC affiliates in Mississippi, Wisconsin, Miami, New York, and Atlanta before joining CBS News and later anchoring at KCBS in Los Angeles. In late 2022, Morgan became a correspondent and anchor for ABC News and was named a permanent co-anchor of GMA3: What You Need to Know in May 2023. Brother Morgan is a recipient of the Byron Kenneth Armstrong Scholars Award.

General Aundre Piggee – Military

Former Lieutenant General Aundre Piggee currently serves as the President and COO of Piggee Executive Leadership Coach and Supply Chain/Logistics Consulting, LLC, and Senior Advisor of the Phantom Warrior Chapter of ROCKS, Inc. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service; Chair of the Performance Committee, Defense Commissary Agency; Co-Chair of the U.S. Army Corporate Industrial Base Board, and served as a member of the Board of Advisors for United Dynamics, Inc., a defense engineering, design, development, manufacturing, and test company.

Hollis Conway – Olympic Medalist

Brother Hollis Conway, a Fall 1990 initiate of Theta Nu at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Born January 8, 1967, Brother Conway is an accomplished American track and field high jumper and two-time Olympic medalist whose excellence on and off the field continues to inspire.

His athletic and professional accomplishments include:

• Two-time Olympic medalist in the high jump

• Top-ranked high jumper in the United States for seven consecutive years (1988–1994)

• World’s top-ranked high jumper in 1990 and 1991

• One of only three Americans — alongside John Thomas and Dwight Stones — to win two Olympic medals in the high jump

Beyond competition, Brother Conway has continued to lead and serve through:

• PARC Director for Lafayette Consolidated Government under Mayor-President Josh Guillory

• Former Assistant Director of Diversity, Leadership, & Education for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns football team under Head Coach Billy Napier

Brother Conway’s legacy reflects sustained excellence, leadership, and dedication to community impact.

Rickey Jackson – NFL Hall of Fame

In 2010, Brother Jackson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, becoming the first player enshrined primarily for his career with the New Orleans Saints. 

Born on March 20, 1958, Brother Jackson is a Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker who played 15 seasons in the NFL (1981–1995), primarily with the New Orleans Saints. A cornerstone of the legendary “Dome Patrol” linebacker corps, he earned a reputation for durability, leadership, and elite pass-rushing ability. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro, finishing his career with 128 sacks and capturing a Super Bowl XXIX championship with the San Francisco 49ers.

A standout at the University of Pittsburgh, Jackson was selected in the second round (51st overall) of the 1981 NFL Draft by the Saints. He spent 13 seasons in New Orleans (1981–1993) before closing his career with two seasons in San Francisco (1994–1995). Over the course of his career, he recorded 128 sacks, 26 fumble recoveries, and eight interceptions. Known for his toughness and consistency, he missed only two games during his 13 seasons with the Saints.

Ryan Clark – ESPN Analyst

Ryan Clark, a 13-year NFL safety and Super Bowl champion, joined ESPN as an NFL analyst in February 2015 on the same day he retired from professional football. Clark regularly appears on NFL Live, First Take, Get Up , and SportsCenter throughout the year. In May 2023, at the 44th Annual Sports Emmy Awards, Clark won his first Sports Emmy in the ‘Outstanding Personality/Studio Analyst’ category. A native of Marrero, Louisiana, Clark graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in mass communications. At LSU, Clark started 36 consecutive games for the Tigers and was an All-SEC second team selection in 2000. 

Clark, who suffered a splenic infarction during his playing career due to sickle cell disease, has been involved with sickle cell awareness, research, treatment and programming. In 2012, he formed Ryan Clark’s Cure League to raise awareness about the sickle cell trait with hopes of eventually finding a cure. Additionally, Clark serves on the Board of Directors for the National Black Bank Foundation.

Known professionally as “Nephew Tommy,” Brother Thomas Miles is a nationally recognized comedian, actor, and radio personality. He is best known for his iconic prank calls on The Steve Harvey Morning Show and for serving as the longtime host of OWN’s hit relationship series Ready to Love.
